PlayStation 3 160 GB Uncharted Drakes Fortune Pack

PlayStation 3 160 GB Uncharted Drakes Fortune Pack

As DVD playback made the PlayStation 2 more than just a game machine, hefty multi-media features make the Sony PlayStation 3 an even more versatile home entertainment machine. Features such as video chat, Internet access, digital photo viewing, and digital audio and video will likely make it the central component of your media set-up. Still, it is first and foremost a game console–and a powerful one at that.

Under the Hood
The PS3 features IBM’s “Cell” processor and a co-developed Nvidia graphics processor that makes the system able to perform two trillion calculations per second. That’s approximately 320 times more calculations per second than the PS2. Along with the traditional AV and composite connections, it also boasts an HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) port, which delivers uncompressed, unconverted digital picture and sound to compatible high-definition TV and projectors. The system is capable of 128-bit pixel precision and 1080p resolution for a full HD experience.

PlayStation 3 is a powerful gaming and home entertainment machine.

Blu-Ray is the New Way
Sony’s PlayStation 3 games are encoded onto the Blu-Ray disc media format, which can hold six times as much data as traditional DVDs. This increase in capacity, combined with the awesome power of its processor and graphics card, promises mind-blowing games once developers have learned how to fully harness the new console’s power. The PS3 will also support CD-ROM, CD-RW, DVD, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD+R formats.

Use a variety of hand-to-hand combat moves to neutralize enemies. View larger.

Explore an exotic locale to find the hidden treasure. View larger.

In addition, PlayStation 3 system software update version 2.20 and up includes BD Live support. With this you can now play discs that support Blu-ray Disc Profile 2.0 (BD-LIVE) and you can also connect to the Internet while playing discs that support this format so that you can obtain additional features. Features that are available vary depending on the software in use.

Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune
Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune is included with this Sony PlayStation 3 bundle pack. The game begins with a 400-year-old clue found in the coffin of famed explorer, Sir Francis Drake. The clue sends modern-day fortune hunter, Nathan Drake, on a quest to find the fabled treasure of El Dorado, leading to the discovery of a long forgotten island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. The expedition turns deadly when Drake’s party becomes stranded on an island and hunted by modern day pirates. Outnumbered and outgunned, Nathan must fight to survive and unravel the terrible secrets of the mysterious island.

Adventure, Mystery, and Exploration Abound
Using maps and ancient artifacts you’ll uncover clues and unravel mysteries that will reveal a forgotten island a lost treasure. This uncharted world is alive with intrigue and mystery, and you’ll revel in the amazing graphics as you explore exotic locations and traverse through living jungles and 400-year-old ruins. Drake’s not all on his own — his companions and allies play an important role in the adventure through cooperative gameplay mechanics, gun play, and exploration.

Action-Packed gameplay
Your abilities will be tested, challenge after challenge, as you struggle to stay alive by any means necessary. Thrilling high-speed chases over land and water and terrifying gunfire will keep you on the edge of your seat. And if that’s not enough, you’ll need to employ an array of hand-to-hand combat moves to keep your enemies off balance with haymaker punches and running drop-kicks.

Charming, exciting, and adventure-packed, Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune is an excellent addition to this Sony PlayStation 3 game console bundle.

1 Star Horrible Warranty and Issues Ruins a Would be Great Console
Until recently I would have touted the PS3 as the greatest gaming console ever, however, in reality, the lack of available games, terrible warranty, and refusal of Sony to fix known problems in the Blu Ray Drive makes this a terrible value unless you plan on also purchasing a 5-year extended warranty. Even microsoft wised up and fixed their known issues for free on the Xbox 360.

Because of a known failure, I now have to either pay $260 to fix my PS3 and hope it doesn’t happen again, or throw it in the trash and get a new one hopefully with the longest available extended warranty from Best Buy.

I never thought I would bash Sony, but my PS2 still works and I bought it in… 2000. My PS3 barely lasted over a year never being moved, thrown, dropped, etc… and is now completely useless unless I feel like turning it on and seeing the home screen. After researching my problem online, I see that there are hundreds and probably thousands of PS3 owners who have experienced the same failures and have sent petitions to Sony to extend the warranty on certain components, but to no avail.

To be fair, if it weren’t for the horrible failure issues and terrible warranty it is an amazing gaming console, the free online gaming world is great, and the Blu-Ray player is the perfect touch allowing it to not only be a gaming system, but the centerpiece to your home theatre system… if it works.

5 Stars The best system sony has come out with yet
I bought this on april 8th of this year. so I’ve had this system for about 2 months and I have to say that it is the best system yet that sony has come out with yet! yeah this one may not play ps2 games but really what do you need that for when once you get this system you won’t even want to play your old ps2 games cause you will have so much to do on your ps3.And now with home out you will always be busy. And since i got this system I have 2 full downloaded games from the ps store and 11 disk games on the system and home and I have 98 gigs free so this is the best option for someone that plans on having alot of games. Also even if you plan on upgrading you can take the 160gig and put it in a external enclosure and then you basiclly get a free hard drive. Now on to the graphics. They r so mind blowing and way better than the 360.and if you have a HDtv I recommend that you go out and get a HDMI cable so you can see the games and movies the way they were meant to be seen. And another good thing is that if you want blue-ray you don’t have to go out and get a seperate blue-ray player cause it has one built into it.And also when you watch regular dvd’s it will upscale them to where it is like watching a HD movie. And when I saw A.Dent’s review it was very helpful in making my choice on this product so follow his review(just don’t listen to what he says about if you plan on upgrading).Other than that he is right to a T.

5 Stars Awesome Machine!
The Play Station 3 has so many option it feels like a computer and not just a simple game console. You can do so much stuff, and not to mention the sweet sweet games. The price (of both the console and the games) are a bit expansive but completely worth the experience. The game is amazing and it was my first time with PS3 game. Really good game!

I do recomend using the PS3 with a HDTV and HDMI cables for the most incredible gaming experience.

5 Stars A great console
Had the playstation 3 for about a month and very pleased with the performance…..Im a hardercore PC gamer and was surprised how well this console played Call of Duty 3……Some frame rate slow down at some point of the action, but overall it is very good and the graphics is great….The game Uncharted is a great game as well…excellent graphics

4 Stars COME ON give me full 1080 support already i’m getting tired!!
Well with all the bragging about the PS3s blu ray capabilities i think the games should follow suite with having full 1080p support which they dont.

Heres a list of games that do, dont, or just 1080i.

1080p-Games

Call Of Duty 4

Ninja Gaiden Sigma

Baja Edge Of Control-WHY??

Dead Space

A few sports games

Little Big Planet

Lair-Again WHY??]

Devil May Cry 4

Can’t remember to many others

1080i

Condemned Bloodshot

KILLZONE 2-COME ON!!!

Call of Duty World at War

Resistance 1

Assassins Creed-Pffft

Anyway

720p only-UNBELIEVABLE

Resistance 2-Still New

Motorstorm-Pacific Rift

Drakes Fortune-WHAT!!!!

Haze-I know who cares right

Farcry 2-WHAT!! NO!

Resident Evil 5-You have to be kidding me

Infamous may or may not-I doubt it.

Rachet and Clank

Other than some of these exclusives about 85% or the other 3rd party games do NOT support full 1080p. Sorry but i just spent only 578$ on a 37′ VIZIO LCD at full 1080p and i want my moneys worth. I love my PS3 for the blu ray player and some of the exclusives although you can’t trully see them in all there glory. As far as everything else other than some laggy frame rate in games, its just fine. But lets utilize it developers, cranks out the max and lets see what it can do, quit holding back and blow the load already!! I’m tire of waiting. I stick to my elite for hardcore gaming at full 1080, thanks microsoft.

Playstation 3 HDMI Cable and USB Cable

Two-in-one combo: Enjoy the highest quality sound and video with this High-Definition Multimedia interface (HDMI) cable and recharge your SIXAXIS wireless controller or connect your PSP system to your PLAYSTATION 3 system or PC.

User Ratings and Reviews

5 Stars Nice quality
Yes yes, I know, as long as you’re getting a decent quality HDMI 1.3a cable it doesn’t make any difference what you get. Still, this is far from the most overpriced cable around, and it is nice.

What I really love about it is the USB cable it includes. As others have mentioned, the material it’s made out of is great (the HDMI cable is the same way, but that’s less relevant since it’s behind your TV and you’d hardly ever move it). It’s almost like a cloth or something-I’ve never seen a cable built like this before. It doesn’t seem to “curl” up like most cables do.

I’d prefer the PS3 just use wired controllers, but that cable is a decent compromise. Frankly I wish it had been included with the PS3… It’s also 10 feet long which is great.

I actually found a use for the short USB cable included with the PS3-I have my PS2/PS1 memory card adapter hooked to it, since that only needs to sit next to the system itself.

Note that these nifty USB cables are also sold in a separate 2 pack for slightly less. I ended up buying those too so I can hook up multiple controllers.

5 Stars Worth every penny…..
For long time I was a believer who believed all HDMI cables are made equal and since the digital signal is carried over the HDMI cable, the cable quality does not matter much. BUT after I bought this cable the truth dawned upon me that all HDMI cables are NOT made equal.

I have a cheap HDMI cable at home which I bought for $10/- last year. I picked this new PS3 HDMI cable recently and when I connected this cable to PS3 I could see the clear difference compared to the cheaper cable. Video Quality and Sound are much better than the cheaper cable.

Pros:

+ Good signal (improved clarity and sound over a cheaper HDMI)

+ Long cable

+ Strong nylon sheathing protects cable from inadvertent accidents

+ Solid quality (you will feel it when you hold the cable)

+ USB cable is long and again with protective covering.

Cons:

- May be lill’ expensive for a cable

Highly recommended for PS3 and other HDMI needs.

5 Stars This is GREAT!!!
I am fairly new to the HD arena, but I have done some research on it and finally purchased an 46″ LCD 1080P Sharp Aquos just in time for Christmas. Unfortunately, I did not have an HD Player or Blue-Ray Player because I was reluctant to purchase something that might lose to the other format. Well, now the HD war is over and Blue Ray is the victor so I purchased the new Sony Playstation 3 80GB w/ Metal Gear Solid 4 (which is awesome BTW). With this new HDMI cable I am able to see the sharpest image possible on my HDTV. In fact, I watched the movie “Enchanted” and saw all the hairs on the upper lip of Amy Adams as she and Patrick Dempsey kissed. Sorry about that Amy. It has also been great watching some of my regular DVDs on the PS3 with this cable. Right now, I am watching “Star Wars V: The Empire Strikes Back” and it looks better on my tv than it did when I was nine years old watching it at the theatre in 1980. I highly recommend that you get this HDMI cable if you have a PS3 and want to get the best video quality avilable.

2 Stars Does not work with Samsung LCD’s
Bought this for my Ps3 and new Samsung 46 750 tv….unfortunately, does not work and samsung cannot get a signal to display - still using the ps3 a/v cords and picture is not any better than a regular tv…sony and samsung support lines no help - waste of my money.

5 Stars High Quality at a reasonable price
Its difficult to wax poetic about a cable - if it works well you should never even notice that its there.

And I want to be careful here not to wade into a discussion of how much a cable is worth, especially when talking about digital signals that are either there, or not.

I pondered the question of $3 or $300 cables for a long while, and chose to hedge my bets by buying this one for the following reasons:

a) Its pricing places it right in the middle of the pack.

b) you can see just by looking at it why it might merit this price.

c) It would be madness for SCEA to sell a product as graphically intense as the PS3 and hobble it with poor quality cables. (These cables are made by SCEA too.)

So what do I get? I get extremely high cable construction quality, and a set of extra long cables. The 10-foot USB cable length is a boon since it lets me position myself comfortably away from the monitor.

The cable jacket is a very flexible cloth like material that makes it look like this cable will last forever, no matter how tightly I squeeze it through the openings in my entertainment center. The ends fit well into my HDMI connectors and are supposed to be gold plated.

All I care about now, is that the images are wonderfully clear … and I can safely go back to ignoring cables.

5 Stars High Speed HDMI Cable - 1080p
These cables work great. The best price and very fast shipping. Ordered them on a Sunday. Received them in the mail on Wednesday.

.

5 Stars Great Product!
This hdmi cable is great! It’s the latest verion 1.3b which really does make a big difference in picture quality. I have a 2nd tv hooked up with an older hdmi cable that is not version 1.3b and the picture on the tv with mediabridge’s hdmi cable is far better.

5 Stars Creates excellent picture quality
Lightening fast shipping and excellent customer service. This cable lives up to my expectaions. A product of superior quality, it’s everything I was looking for in an HDMI cable. I hooked up my HDTV and PS3 with these cables and the picture is absolutely breathtaking. Crystal clear. I couldn’t ask for a better cable.

    4 Stars one potential problem
This is a great cable at a great price.

There is one problem that may potentially affect you though. The height of the HDMI connector is quite high (ie it is thick). Whereas many of these connectors are around 1/4 inch tall, this one is 7/8 inch. There is some a/v equipment out there that doesn’t have enough room for this connector. My SONY LCD projector falls into this category.

What I ended up doing was to get a small (1 foot) m-f HDMI cable extender, and this ended up with a male plug small enough to fit into the projector connector.

This probably won’t affect you, but measure your input connector area just in case.

    1 Star A tricky price…
I bought the cable because of the good reviews. Unfortunatley for me the cable didn’t work. It looked very well to me, a very thick and well done cable, but didnt work, no image at all! also the connector could be easyly pulled out, somehow it didnt stayed in its place so I will have to buy a new one because I live in Mexico and shipping is so expensive, it isnt worth to return it. Bad product. Maybe its the first bad experience with this cable, but be aware.

1 Star Great cable, except for one thing….
It didn’t work. I plugged the cable in, and… nothing. I tried different HDMI input, and still nothing. I finally found that I could sometimes make it work if I fiddled with it a bit while the DVD player was running, but if I turned the DVD player off and restarted it, the cable would go back to not working.

I tried a different cable to make sure this cable was the problem rather than the inputs on the TV and DVD players, and everything worked fine. This cable was definitely the problem.

    5 Stars a steal
As I live overseas (APO) it is hard to find HDMI cables anywhere near this price (around 50$ for a 3-6 footer on average) these cables have allowed great picture on my projector and I have NO complaints.

5 Stars Buy This Cable!!!, Don’t waist money on others!!!
Deliverd to Canada this cable cost me less than $30.00. It works perfect.

Best buy Sells the comparable monster hdmi1000hd 10m hdmi cable for $399.99.

Unlike Analog signals, with an HDMI Digital, the signal either makes it to your equiptment, or it doesn’t. there is not “weak” or “better” picture, plain and simple, it either works, or it does not, all or nothing, 1’s and 0’s, you get the point.

It Blows me away that companies like best buy can charge that much for a cable.
